NYX HD & Fall Picks

So on a cheaper side and still part of my birthday haul, I got some stuff from Nyx. We all know Nyx being affordable with good quality and very updated in their collections. Ive decided to pick up their HD range which includes the HD foundation, concealer and the photo-loving primer. I have to be completely honest, I hate the smell of the primer. It feels like im smearing gasoline oil on my face but then the scent disappears and seems to work okay. The quality is good but they have to frigging fix that awful scent! I got it for $15.90. Then I thought it should work well with the HD foundation, which again I hate the awful smell. This time, it smells like plastic and even the coverage is good and pictures really well, the scent just puts me off terribly. Its almost 70% as good as MUFE HD foundation but it only lasts for 8 hours. Priced at $15.90 as well. But amongst them all, I found the HD concealer such a great buy. Coverage, check! Color, check! Great price, check! I highly-recommend this! Its easy to blend and good for under eye and spot cover. Priced at $15.90. Its as good as Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer but only 25% like MUFE full cover concealer. A lot of people says that its as good as Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer which I still have to find out!

Since Fall is already here, I got the blush in Mauve and lipliner in Auburn to match my dark lip looks while the shade Nude Pink for dark smokey eyes. Both products are great and are cheap! Both priced at $7.90. And I accidentally picked up a retractable lipliner in the shade Sand Beige which is so good for the 90s look ala Kylie Jenner which I used in the picture above!

That’s all folks! Are you also buying products that suits the Fall season?

Makeup Look #13 : Fall Winter 2014 Dark Lips

So off from my beauty haul reviews, i’m presenting to you all my first Fall Winter look for this year -dark lips. I have always loved the ox blood, deep burgundy/bordeaux color thats in the runways for FW this year. I do recommend to go by level of darkeness before you completely decide which level you should go for. Here’s a few products I did review and I recommend that you should try:

  • NYX lip liner in Auburn/ Cabernet – deep berry red but is subtle
  • Barry M Moisturizing Lip Paint in Black Cherry 106 – dark berry red in semi glossy finish
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry – very dark purple-ish red in semi glossy finish
  • MAC Pro Lipstick Matte in Sin – deep burgundy red/ dark blue red in matte finish

I have the first three lip products and im still in search for MAC Sin because blue under tones works best for me in red lipsticks ( I do have the Russian Red which im so in love with). But one thing to take note is to prep your lips, moisturize them! Because dark lip colors will drain your lips and having flaky lips dont look so nice when youre wearing dark lipsticks. Also, do apply a lipliner all over, then fill in your lips before your lipstick so it stays longer and so it wont leak around your mouth!

This is such an easy look for a night out and will definitely change your regular smokey eyes makeup for going out. Let me know if you guys like it, cause I definitely have been sporting this look for quite a few times now!

I’ve Used:
Primer – NYX Professional Studio Perfect Photo-loving Primer
Foundation – NYX Professional HD Foundation in Sand Beige 04 applied using Round Kabuki Brush
Concealer- Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Medium 03
Blusher- NYX Blush in Mauve applied using Real Techniques Blusher Brush

Front Cover New Style Queen Makeup Set

I always used to think buying makeup sets is not my fave thing to do but until I got this Front Cover Style Queen Makeup Set, I actually took back the idea.

This kit is consist of the following:

  • 7 baked shimmer mini dome eyeshadows – vanilla ice (ivory), peanut (light pink), cumin (light beige coral),sandstone (light gold), brunette (auburn),grey grey, amber green (light emerald green)
  • 6 full size round matte eyeshadows – peach, garcie grey, jenny wren, brown cork, burnt cork, bodstock black
  • 6 sheer lip glosses – langoustine, Icy pink, singed pink, peru, red moon, brickwall
  • 2 cheek domes (blush/highlighter) – gold-orange-pink, light pink-light yellow-light blue
  • 2 pressed pigments- saddle brown, coal hoal
  • 1 mascara
  • 1 shadowline liquid eyeliner – transforms eyeshadow into eyeliner
  • 1 black eyeliner with smudger
  • Cheek Brush
  • Fluff + Buff Brush
  • Rounded Shader Eye Brush
  • Point + Eye Brush
  • Mini Blender Eye Brush
  • Retractable Lip Brush
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Mini Lash Curler

You do get a lot with this kit plus almost all of it is great. I love the eyeshadows, cheek domes, shadowline, pressed pigments and the brushes. Although the pigmentation of the lipglosses are not amazing. They seem to be more like a very light lip gloss. Id rather use them as cheek stains.

Overall, its good but I wont buy them on regular price of £35., I only got mine for £15. Unfortunately, you cant get it anymore but do watch out for other kits that Front Cover does.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation & Full Coverage Concealer

br />
Since Fall is already here, I have opted to change up my Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation into something much more lighter and bearable in Singapore weather. The Makeup Forever HD Foundation has been a crowd favorite ever since it came out and I picked it up out of my curiosity of what is a real HD foundation to skin. It says its an invisible cover for HD cameras and naked to the eye but in a medium – full coverage. I was at first scared to try because I dont want any thick paint over my face but since its MUF, I was convinced that it would be a great foundation and hopefully I will fell in love with it, like how I love their Aqualiner. And indeed, it is such a great foundation. Its light, clears my imperfections, amazing for taking pictures and gentle on my skin. Although it doesnt have any SPF, I don’t mind at all because this foundation is for taking pictures (great for weddings!)  and looking great in person but never to wear too long under the sun. Im a shade 125 which is the best color match I have ever have in a foundation. It costs $42 in a 30 ml glass bottle which isnt cheap at all but I promise you, you wont regret every single penny you spent if you buy this. You can get it here. This is my new fave for special day looks!

So to pair it with, I also got the MUF Full Coverage concealer in 07 after watching Wayne Goss do a demo in his youtube channel. If you don’t know, im quite a freak in terms of covering my dark under eyes. In the high end beauty, this is my new holy grail liquid concealer. It is so easy to blend and set, perfect for my skintone, matte and waterproof, creaseless and just amazing. It costs $32 in a generous 15 ml tube (half a foundation bottle!) which is once again not cheap but definitely youll never go wrong. I either apply it using my fingers, round mini kabuki brush or a moist beauty blender.

Here are some of my photos where I used them both together.

They are such great products that I think everyone should try.

Have you ever tried any HD foundation and concealer?

Dark & Light Lipstick

A few of my August purchases were these 3 lipsticks from Revlon and Barry M.

Since Fall is already here, its time to switch up a bit on color for a more deeper and richer feel. Ive been liking dark red lipsticks that before I get something high end, I decided to check out what the highstreet has to offer.

First up, is the Barry M Moisturizing Lip Paint in shade 160 Black Cherry. From the bullet, it looks black but once applied it sheens out into a deep raspberry color that is not as dark but just a deep color. It doesnt last that long so it requires reapplication. I got mine in Asos for £4.50.

Now from Revlon, their Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry which is the same name as Barry M and this one is quite popular too. This one is darker and leaning on the purple side. Im not so keen on the moisturizing power, it was drying my lips apart from the fact that it dark lipsticks just do that but it did chap my lips so I suggest to exfoliate and moisturize before you apply. It doesnt last that long so it requires reapplication too.

I also decided to pick up the Pink in the Afternoon which is a lovely everyday pink lipstick that is great since I am running out on that shade! Lol. You can get both here.

Loving the deep red color this season?
Let me know from which brand!

Urban Decay Shattered Face Case Palette Review

As part of my birthday haul, I was invited by my friend to go to a Sephora sale last month and I manage to get this… well amongst the few I also picked up. Hehe. So, this retailed at 75SGD last Fall’13 then dropped to 35SGD (as far as I can remember.. sorry!) which I wanted to buy last year but I unfortunately didn’t have the extra dough to do so.

This is a two-tier palette that can almost complete a whole face look. Almost all of the shades are exclusive and is such a great bargain specially if you need it for traveling.

Tier 1:

Eyeshadows (all exclusive):

  1. Nameless – medium gray brown satin finish
  2. Remix – rich purple shimmer with micro glitter
  3. Shakedown – deep brown gunmetal satin finish
  4. Minor Sin – champagne pink satin finish
  5. Bleach – yellow beige matte

  1. Urban Decay Travel Size 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero – basic black cream eyeliner pencil

<a href="https://loosea

Tier 2:

Blush (all exclusive):

  1. Overexposed – dusty rose leaning on brown
  2. Temper – soft baby pink

Highlighter (exclusive):

  1. Glint – soft beige pink shimmer

  1. Full Size Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Lovechild – creamy cool pink

Urban Decay’s eyeshadow pigmentation needs no explanation. Theyre tried and tested and wont let you down. As for the blush, you should have a light hand when applying it or else it’ll pack on and will make you look like a clown. While the highlighter appears to be lighter when applied. As for the lipgloss, I love the texture and doesn’t have a plumping ingredient which I like. The color might look strong but its a flattering pink that is great either day or night shade. Lastly, I wish that they placed in Perversion over Zero, is just that this eyeliner is a basic black while I love blackest black shade.

Over all I love this palette. This is a great one for me to bring when I travel as well as try more colors which is aside from browns, taupes, and golds. I recommend this although you cant get it anywhere anymore. Alhough, you can still get the eyeliner and lipglosses from Urban Decay.

Till the next post!
